Wood rug, wood carpet, wood fiber

Also known as wood rug or Woodcarpet®, engineered wood fiber is a ground wood product similar in texture to shredded bark mulch. But wood rug is made out of wood (not bark), so it is light in color. When compressed, wood rug produces a surface that is considered wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. Our engineered wood fiber is certified and meets ASTM standards.

In the Maryland - Washington, DC - Virginia area, we deliver and/or install wood fiber in quantities of 8 cubic yards or more. We also sell wood fiber to go, in any quantity, at our facility in Boyds, Maryland. Note: Sales to go are done by appointment only. To make an appointment, just phone us at (301) 840-0707.

Nationally, we deliver wood fiber in loads of 90+ cubic yards in any of the other 48 continental states. Click your state below for more information.

What are the dimensions of your playground (in feet)?

Length: feet
Width: feet

How many inches of safety woodchips are being added?
(The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends 9 to 12 inches.  For wood rug, allow 3" more, accounting for compacting over time.)

Desired depth:
(in inches)

You need cubic yards.
Note: Each cubic yard covers a space 10' x 10' with 3 inches of material.

RESILIENT SURFACING INSTALLATION GUIDELINES

Resilient surfacing should be placed around stationary playground equipment at a 6 foot or greater radius, more at the end of slides.

Swings need resilient surfacing to a distance of twice the height of the swing beam in front and behind the swing, plus the normal 6 ft at the ends.

A swing with an 8 ft high swing beam would therefore need 16 feet clear in front and behind, for a total of 32 feet in the direction of the swing path.
